  • 200g brown sugar
  • 100g unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • Optional: 1 cup finely chopped apples or citrus zest

For Finishing:

  • Egg wash (1 beaten egg with 1 tbsp water)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast.
    • Pour warm milk over the yeast and let it activate for about 10 minutes.

    • Add the eggs and softened butter, and knead the mixture into a soft, elastic dough.
    • Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  1. Make the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon. Mix well. If using, stir in chopped apples or citrus zest.
  2. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
    • Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
    • Start from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
    • Cut the log into 1.5-inch sections using a sharp knife or dental floss.
  3. Bake:
    • Place the cut rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.
    • Cover and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
    • Brush the tops with egg wash.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
