Recipe for Traditional Southern Butter Cake

Getting ready.

Prepare the oven. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) before using. Prepare a 9×13-inch pan or two 8-inch round pans by greasing and flouring them before baking.

Use a big mixer to beat the sugar and softened butter until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Mix in the vanilla extract and eggs one by one, stirring well after adding each one to the butter mixture. Put in the vanilla extract and stir thoroughly.

To prepare the dry ingredients, combine the salt, baking powder, and all-purpose flour in a different bowl. Completely mix.

Mix all the ingredients together: Add the whole milk to the wet mixture bit by bit while mixing in the dry ingredients slowly. Put the powdered ingredients in one by one and mix until they are just combined.

Pour the batter evenly into the pans you have ready and bake. Heat the oven to 250 degrees. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. To check if the cake is ready, insert a toothpick in the center and remove it.

Allow the cake to rest in the pan for ten minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. When it’s cold, you can eat it.
