Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

Add the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until well browned, breaking with a spatula to ensure even cooking. It should take 7–10 minutes to perform this process. If you don’t want greasy gravy, drain off any extra fat from the skillet after browning.

Saute Onions and Garlic: In a skillet with the beef, add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook onions for 3 to 5 minutes, until soft and translucent. This step gives a nice, rich brown color and fragrant taste to your curry, making it more flavorful.

Step 3: Make the Gravy

Add Flour: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour on top of the cooked beef and onions. Whisk consecutively to give the flour a good stir and make it as natural as possible without lumps. Cook for about 2–3 minutes to both remove the raw flour flavor and make a nice, smooth base that will become your gravy.

Combine Broth and Seasonings: Stir in 2 cups of beef broth very slowly to avoid lumps. Seasaon with the salt and pepper if needed; add 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Combine them well to form a smooth mixture.

Simmer and Thicken: Keep stirring while you allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes (it should start thickening). Don’t forget to stir so that they don’t stick. If you want it to be a little thicker, it should simmer for some more time. Add 1 cup of frozen peas and carrots for extra nutrition and color; cook until warm.

Step 4: Serve the dish.

To Serve: Spoon generous helpings of the creamy mashed potatoes onto plates or into bowls. Then pour the savory ground beef gravy over top of them and let it ooze down through all those potatoes.

Garnish & Serve: Top with fresh parsley (optional, but it adds a lovely pop of color and element of freshness!). Bring to table piping hot immediately.
