1 cup powdered sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp almond extract
2 tbsp milk
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 15x10x1-inch pan with non-stick spray.
Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and almond extracts, stirring until combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
Assemble Bars: Spread 3 cups of batter on the bottom of the prepared pan. Evenly spread the cherry pie filling over the batter, then drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the cherry layer.
Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. For a 9×13-inch pan, extend the baking time slightly.
Cool: Let the bars cool completely on a wire rack.
Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and milk until smooth.
Drizzle & Serve: Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the bars. Let it set, cut into squares, and enjoy!
Notes
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
Variations: Try using blueberry or apple pie filling for a twist, or add lemon zest for extra tang.
Freezing: Freeze bars by wrapping them individually in plastic wrap and placing them in a freezer bag. Thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
