CHERRY BARS RECIPE

1 cup cherry spread (Double Fruit type)

In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat the eggs and vanilla.

In a separate bowl, mix whole wheat flour, white flour and baking powder. Add as much dry ingredients as possible tothe butter mixture and beat on low speed. Using a wooden spoon, mix the remaining dry ingredients and oatmeal.

Save 125 ml of the oatmeal mixture. Press remaining mixture into lightly greased 13″ x 9″ pan. Spread with cherry paste. Sprinkle with oatmeal mixture.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 35 minutes or until brown. Place the pan on a wire rack. Cut into strips.
