Caramelized Golden Dumplings in Syrup

1 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp butter
For serving:
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dumpling Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Stir in the milk and melted butter to form a soft dough. Set aside.
Make the Syrup:
In a saucepan, mix water, brown sugar, and butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 3–5 minutes. Stir in vanilla extract.
Cook the Dumplings:
Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering syrup.
Cover the pan and cook for 10–12 minutes or until the dumplings are puffed and golden brown on the top.
