½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese (full-fat preferred)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Combine Dry Ingredients: Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined.
Add Bananas: Gently fold in mashed bananas.
Bake: Pour batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly. Bake for 25-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cake: Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
Prepare Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and heavy cream, and beat until creamy.
Frost and Serve: Spread the frosting over the cooled cake, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, add a handful of chopped walnuts or chocolate chips to the batter.
Full-fat cream cheese and sour cream yield the best results.
Make sure the cake is completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
